Catherine and Graham were married at the ‘Sconset Chapel, and had a reception following at a private home in Tom Nevers. The night before, they had an all American July 4th themed rehearsal dinner at the Whaling Museum, and even got a great view of the fireworks that were coincidentally and luckily postponed from the night before!
Graham has been visiting Nantucket with his family for over 30 years, and his parents have been homeowners on Nantucket for over a dozen. Having moved all over the country while growing up, (something I can absolutely relate to), Nantucket vacations were a welcome constant for Graham, securing his love for the island. In fact, Graham and his new wife love visiting the island so much, that they leave NYC at the crack of 4am on a Saturday morning just to be able to enjoy a full weekend here.
July is a hot month on Nantucket, but we were lucky to have a light breeze and beautiful blue skies, as well as beautiful gardens to photograph in, everywhere we went. Speaking of beautiful, Catherine and Graham looked flawless – she in her Monique Lhuillier gown, and he in his classic black suit and bow tie.
Their invitations, white floral cake, Catherine’s bridesmaids’ ivory JCrew dresses and roses, as well as her white peony bouquet, created an elegant monochromatic theme. Family and loved ones blew bubbles outside the chapel, to celebrate the new bride and groom. Under the tent illuminated by chandeliers, lush centerpieces by Soiree Floral, and beautiful candles, adorned the tables. After the celebration, Catherine and Graham were sent off with sparklers to a post wedding party at LoLa Burger.
I love this statement from the bride and groom :
“Nantucket has been for us a host for reunions, a communion with nature, a shelter in the storm, and a weary traveler’s home on the road. In fact, the island’s inaccessibility may have cemented its role as a pillar in our life together. The commute to and fro, along with our time on the island, has given us the rarest gift in today’s world: uninterrupted time together. On the island, we have rediscovered simple pleasures – a bike ride, a sandcastle, and an ice cream cone.”
